An autobiographical account of the author's career in rocket science, spanning from his time in Germany during World War II to his work in the United States space program. 

  • Author: Dieter K. Huzel was an electronic engineer who was conscripted into the German V-weapon program at the top-secret Peenemünde facility. He later came to the United States under "Operation Paperclip". 
  • Content: The book details the development of the V-1 and V-2 rockets in Germany and the efforts to save the technology from falling into Russian hands as the war ended. 
  • Post-War Career: Huzel and his director, Wernher von Braun, opted to move to America, where they became part of the Rocketdyne research team and contributed to the early NASA push for space exploration, including the launching of the Redstone missile at Cape Canaveral.
